The authors prove that a certain class \(x\in H_7(Sp(2))\) cannot be realized by a submanifold. This answers problem 8 from the Hirzebruch list [\textit{F. Hirzebruch}, Ann. Math. (2) 60, 213-236 (1954; Zbl 0056.16803)]. The authors also discuss the realizability of homology classes by submanifolds with Spin\(^{C}\) normal bundles. One of typical results is the following (Theorem 4): For every \(n\geq 7\) there exists a closed manifold \(M^n\) and a class \(a\in H_{n-3}(M)\) represented by an embedded submanifold, for which every representative has non-{\tenrm Spin}\(^C\) normal bundle.
