The Calogero-Inozemtsev (CI) model describes a nonautonomous integrable system of \(N\) interacting particles on a line with a Hamiltonian defined on an elliptic curve. Its \(N=1\) reduction yields the Hamiltonian of the sixth Painlevé equation PVI in an elliptic form. For the CI model, the author presents a \(3N\times3N\) Lax pair with the spectral parameter on an elliptic curve which implies a \(3\times3\) Lax pair for the equation PVI. Besides this, he gives a \(2\times2\) Lax pair on an elliptic curve for PVI appearing as a reduction of a Lax pair of an integrable elliptic Gaudin model for a chain of interacting spins. The latter approach allows the author to prove that the spectral curve for the CI model in the case \(N=1\) has genus one.
