The principal \(U(1)\)-bundles are the simplest and most fundamental examples of fibre bundles, often encountered in mathematics and physics. They are equipped both with a connection and a metric, which are in principle independent of each other, though, an interesting situation arises when they are compatible in some natural way. This is reflected, for example, in the spectral geometry of \(U(1)\)-bundles, which in terms of the Laplace operator has been studied in [\textit{P. B. Gilkey} et al., J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 29, No. 17, 5645--5656 (1996; Zbl 0905.58003)], whereas the analysis of Dirac operators was presented in [\textit{B. Ammann} and \textit{C. Bär}, Ann. Global Anal. Geom. 16, No. 3, 221--253 (1998; Zbl 0911.58037)]. The authors study spectral triples over noncommutative principal \(U(1)\)-bundles. Basing on the classical situation and the abstract algebraic approach, the authors propose an operatorial definition for a connection and compatibility between the connection and the Dirac operator on the total space and on the base space of the bundle. The authors analyze the example of the noncommutative three-torus viewed as a \(U(1)\)-bundle over the noncommutative two-torus and find all connections compatible with an admissible Dirac operator. Conversely, the authors find a family of new Dirac operators on the noncommutative tori, which arise from the base-space Dirac operator and a suitable connection.
