The authors study the one-fluid model for the interaction of electrons with their self-consistent electromagnetic field. They prove the global stability of a constant neutral background in two space dimensions. The solutions have slow pointwise decay in time and the system has a large set of quadratic time resonances. A delicate control by energy estimates in the Fourier space combined with Fourier analysis of the Duhamel formula is needed to deal with those solutions.
