This paper is concerned with the existence of ground state solutions for a class of nonlocal problems driven by the fractional Laplace operator. The reaction is a smooth odd nonlinearity, which has a critical growth at infinity. The first main result of this paper establishes the existence of a least energy solution. Next, it is proved that the corresponding mountain pass value gives, in fact, the least energy level. The proofs combine variational and analytic arguments, including the Strauss compactness lemma, the Pohozaev identity and the mountain pass theorem.
