Let \((A,\Theta)\) be a principally polarized abelian variety of dimension \(n\). Let \(Y\) be a non degenerate subvariety of \(A\) with dim \(Y=d \leq n-2\) and having minimal cohomology class, that is \([Y]= \frac{\Theta^{n-d}}{(n-d) !}\). It is known [\textit{C. H. Clemens} and \textit{P. A. Griffiths}, Ann. Math. (2) 95, 281--356 (1972; Zbl 0214.48302)] that if \(X\subset {\mathbb P}^4\) is a smooth cubic threefold then its intermediate Jacobian \(J(X)\) is a principally polarized abelian variety \((J(X),\Theta )\) of dimension five. The Fano scheme \(F\) parametrizing lines contained in \(X\) is a smooth surface and the Abel-Jacobi map \(F\to J(X)\) is an embedding. Moreover the cohomology class of \(F\subset J(X)\) is minimal. There is an approach by \textit{G. Pareschi} and \textit{M. Popa} [Math. Ann. (1) 340, 209--222 (2008; Zbl 1131.14049)] in studying subvarieties of principally polarized abelian varieties having minimal cohomology class by considering cohomological properties of the twisted structure sheaf of such subvarieties. In the paper under review the author shows that the above Fano scheme \(F\) of lines in the smooth cubic threefold \(X\subset {\mathbb P}^4\) is such that the sheaf \({\mathcal O}_{F}(\Theta)\) is \(M\)-regular.
