The notion of warped products was introduced by Bishop and O'Neill in their transactions paper in 1969, to produce examples of Riemannian manifolds with negative curvature. Some well known solutions of Einsteins field equations which can be expressed in terms of warped products, resulted in a lot of activity in this area and the notion of warped products was generalized further to produce more general space-time models. In this paper, the authors study expressions that relate the Ricci (respectively scalar) curvature of a multiply warped product with the Ricci (respectively scalar) curvature of its base and fibres as well as warping functions. In particular, the authors obtain useful expressions for the Ricci tensor and the scalar curvature of generalized Robertson-Walker and generalized Kasner space times. They also apply their results to other relativistic space-times like Reissner-Nordström, Kasner space times, Bañados-Teitelboim-Zanelli and de Sitter black hole solutions. This paper offers a lot of scope for further study and research on multiple warped products and related areas.
