The paper ``Real-valued observables and quantum uncertainty'' presents a series of results within the framework of Robertson-Heisenberg uncertainty inequality, involving generalizations to state-dependent form for well-known concepts such as expectation, correlation or covariance. The study includes also the equality case for faithful states. The case of real-valued observables is also presented and relevant examples are considered, such as dichotomic observables or noisy spin observables. The last part of the paper presents the generalization to the state dependence of the uncertainty inequality for the case of real-valued coarse graining of an observable and real-valued instruments are used for exemplifying the theory. Results for Holevo and Luders instruments are also derived.
