Three kinds of ranks such as differentiability rank, integrability rank and convergence rank are explored and relationships are established among them and unsolved problems are stated. Denjoy was pioneer in this direction of work of recovering the primitive by a process called totalization which recovers a function from its derivative in a countable ordinal number of steps [\textit{A. Denjoy}, Mémoire sur la totalisation des nombres derivés non-sommables, Ann. Ecole Norm. Sup. 33, 127-222 (1916); 34, 181-238 (1917)]. Without going through further details the following is stated to give a general feeling. The functions with convergence rank one, differentiability rank one, integrability rank one are precisely those with uniformly convergent Fourier series, those which are uniformly differentiable, those with integrable derivative, respectively.
