An implicitly linear collocation method was introduced by \textit{S. Kumar} and \textit{I. H. Sloan} [Math. Comput. 48, 585-593 (1987; Zbl 0616.65142)]. In this paper the connection between the implicitly linear collocation method and the ``classical'' iterated collocation method is considered. It is shown that the approximations generated by the implicitly linear collocation method and one of the discretized iterated collocation methods, respectively, are identical. The results are also extended to a class of nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm integral equations.
