The authors continue their study [J. Number Theory 34, 210-224 (1990; Zbl 0704.11013)] on cusp forms of half-integral weight on the groups \(\Gamma_ 0(4M)\) for odd squarefree \(M\). They introduce operators \(C(4)\) and \(C(p^ 2)\) for the primes \(p\mid M\) which are analogous to the operators \(C(p)\) for cusp forms of even weight introduced by \textit{A. Pizer} [J. Algebra 83, 39-64 (1983; Zbl 0515.10020)]. A result analogous to Pizer's theorem is proved: The spaces of cusp forms of half-integral weight are direct sums of common eigenspaces of all Hecke operators \(T(p^ 2)\) for \(p\nmid 2M\) and all \(C(p^ 2)\) for \(p\mid 2M\), each of dimension one. For the proof, a commutation rule for \(C(p^ 2)\) with Shimura isomorphisms is established and used.
