This paper gives a classification of minimal elliptic surfaces \(E\) over the complex-projective line, having 4 singular fibres. Essential tool is the ``Weierstraß model'' of \(E\), studied by Kas. The possible singular fibres (following Persson/Miranda) give rise to the classification of the elliptic surfaces of the type considered here: They are listed by the combination of fibres, Weierstraß model (which is not always unique), \(j\)-invariant and cross-ratio of the base points. The author points out the relations of his results with the papers of \textit{I. Naruki} [Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 23, 409-431 (1987; Zbl 0663.14025)], \textit{R. Miranda} [Math. Z. 205, No. 2, 191-211 (1990; Zbl 0722.14022)] and \textit{R. Miranda} and \textit{U. Persson} [Math. Z. 193, 537- 558 (1986; Zbl 0652.14003)], where similar results are obtained using different methods.
