The paper deals with the Lozi map \(f: \mathbb{R}^ 2 \to \mathbb{R}^ 2\), where \(f(x,y) = (1-a| x| + by,x)\), \(b\in(0,1)\). This map is investigated by the methods of symbolic dynamics. The orbit of a given initial point \((x_ 0,y_ 0)\) is encoded according to the sign of \(x\) or \(y\), so the symbolic dynamics contains an \(L\) for \(x < 0\), \(R\) for \(x > 0\) and \(C\) for \(x = 0\) (as well as for \(y\)). Such a way we obtain bi- infinite sequences \(\dots\bar s_ m\dots\bar s_ 1\bar s_ 0\bullet s_ 0s_ 1\dots s_ n\dots\), where \(s_ n\) denotes the \(x\)-sign of its \(n\)th image, \(\bar s_ m\) the \(y\)-sign of the \(m\)th pre-image. For a given forward sequence \(\bullet s_ n,s_{n+1},\dots\) the author determines the line \(x - k_ n y=q_ n\) such that the points sharing this forward sequence fall on this line. These lines form a foliation of the phase space. The properties of these lines are investigated in dependence on the symbolic sequences. The paper is interesting but is not well written. The reading of this paper is difficult.
