In this interesting paper the authors prove uniqueness of the coefficient \(n(x)\) of the vector Helmholtz equation \(\nabla x\nabla xE-k^ 2nE=0\) in \(\mathbb{R}^ 3\) with given scattering data at fixed frequency \(k\). They assume \(n-1\in C^ 3_ 0(\mathbb{R}^ 3)\). The basic idea of the proof is to use orthogonality relations and almost exponential solutions to this system of equations as in the pioneering paper of \textit{J. Sylvester} and \textit{G. Uhlmann} [Ann. Math., II. Ser. 125, 153-169 (1987; Zbl 0625.35078)] on the Schrödinger equation. However in this case there are some additional difficulties due to non-ellipticity of Maxwell's system. Recently \textit{P. Ola}, \textit{L. Päivärinta} and \textit{E. Somersalo} obtained global uniqueness results for complete Maxwell's system [An inverse boundary value problem in electrodynamics, Preprint Univ. Oulu, Finland (1992)].
