In this note the author explains how his work [ibid. 361-368 (1993; see the paper above)] can be applied to the theory of semiconductors and quasicrystals. The detailed numerical calculations given, however, seem to be inconclusive and the author suggests that his argument concerning the critical dimension is not strong enough.
