Consider a polynomial \(\phi_ 0(z)= \sum^ n_ 0 a_ k z^ k\) whose roots are inside the unit circle (a Schur polynomial and its perturbed counterpart \(\phi(z)= \sum^ n_ 0 (a_ k+ \delta_ k) z^ k\). A stability robustness measure is required and can be found by fixing the shape of the parameter uncertainties to be a hypersphere \(\|\delta\|\leq r_ d\), \(r_ d\) being the stability radius. This measure is too conservative hence the uncertainties have to be reshaped. This is done by the linear fractional transformation \(z= (w- \beta)/(1-w \beta)\). The paper gives necessary and sufficient conditions for the choice of \(\beta\) to be really improving for the robustness measure and also an algorithm to find whether the hypersphere mentioned above is contained in the newly obtained robustness hyperellipsoid. A new transform with two tunable parameters \(z= (w-\alpha)/(1-w\beta)\) is suggested.
