A generalized cone \(CG(k,n)\) is an incidence structure which generalizes the notion of a Laguerre plane by leaving out the axiom of touching. It has a fixed type \(k(k + 1 = \) length of all circles), a well defined order \(n\) (length of all generators) and point number \(v = n (k + 1)\). In the paper generalized cones and their automorphism groups are investigated, embeddability into Laguerre planes is discussed and some characterizations of ovoidal (Miquelian) Laguerre planes are given.
