[Parts I, II, cf. Sel. Math., New Ser. 1, No. 4, 699-756, 757-786 (1995).] This is the third part of authors' series of works on a tensor theory of a vertex operator algebra. In the first part, they introduced the tensor products associated with two types of maps which they called ``\(P(z)\)-intertwining maps'' and ``\(Q(z)\)-intertwining maps'', respectively. The definition of the \(Q(z)\)-map involved the contragredient module of a module of a vertex operator algebra. In part I, the authors gave two constructions of \(Q(Z)\)-tensor of two modules of a vertex operator algebra such that the tensor forms a module of the same algebra under certain conditions. In this paper, the authors present two constructions of \(P(z)\)-tensors analogous to those of \(Q(z)\)-tensors. The \(P(z)\)-tensors of two modules of a vertex operator algebra form modules of the same algebra under what they called ``\(P(z)\)-compatibility condition'' and ``\(P(z)\)-local grading-restriction condition''. These two conditions are discussed in detail.
