Let \(G\) be a finite group and \(p\) a prime divisor of \(|G|\). Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p\). The cohomology ring \(H^* (G,k)\) is a finitely generated graded \(k\)-algebra and \(H^* (G,k)/ \text{Rad } H^* (G,k)\) is a commutative ring. The maximal ideal spectrum \(V_G (k)\) of \(H^*(G, k)\) is a homogeneous affine variety. A \(kG\)-module \(M\) determines a subvariety \(V_G (M)\) of \(V_G (k)\) called here, the complexity of \(M\). Let \(M_c\) denote the subcategory of the stable module category consisting of all modules of complexity at most \(c\) and \(Q_c= M_c/ M_{c-1}\) denote the quotient category; \(Q_c\) inherits a triangulated structure from the stable module category. This article examines the way that the \(c\)-dimensional components of \(V_G(M)\) correspond to direct summands of \(M\oplus \Omega M\) and calculates endomorphism rings of trivial modules in various quotient categories of the stable module category.
