The authors study Pin structures and the Dirac operator. First they recall the standard facts on Clifford algebras, their representations, Pin groups, Pin and Spin structures and prove the following Theorem 1: Let \(M'\) and \(M''\) be two Riemannian spaces. Their product has a Pin structure if and only if \(M'\) and \(M''\) are Pin manifolds and at least one of the spaces \(M'\) or \(M''\) is orientable. This general result is illustrated by the example of the product of two real projective planes. Finally, they prove Theorem 2 for the spectrum of the Dirac operator. Let \(M\) be the product of a Pin manifold \(M_1\) and a Spin manifold \(M_2\). If \(\lambda_1\) and \(\lambda_2\) are eigenvalues of the Dirac operators on \(M_1\) and \(M_2\), respectively, then \(\sqrt{\lambda^2_1+ \lambda^2_2}\) and \(-\sqrt{\lambda^2_1+ \lambda^2_2}\) are eigenvalues of the Dirac operator on \(M\).
