The main result is a generalization of Dickson's theorem on the invariant polynomial subalgebra with respect to \(\text{Gl}(m,\mathbb{F}_q)\). A subgroup of the general linear group conjugate to one having diagonal blocks of the type \(\text{Gl}(n_i,\mathbb{F}_q)\), \(n_1+\cdots+n_r=m\), and zeros below is called parabolic. The subalgebra of \(\mathbb{F}_q[x_1,\dots,x_m]\), invariant under the action of a parabolic group is proved to be a polynomial algebra on \(m\) homogeneous generators. Furthermore, the action of the mod-\(p\) Steenrod algebra on these generators is studied.
