Hovering aerodynamics applies to dragonflies, hummingbirds, and several insects. These creatures generate high lift by utilizing special vortical flows. Theoretically, these flows are rather challenging due to highly oscillatory nature and relatively low Reynolds numbers. Modern computational hydrodynamics begins to decipher their silent features that have been used by nature long before arrival of humans.
