The authors study various quadrature formulas which integrate exactly any linear combination of polynomials up to a certain degree and two other functions \(U_1(kx)\) and \(U_2(kx)\), representing two linearly independent solutions of a general second-order linear differential equation of the form \(y''(x)+kq(kx)y'(x)+k^2p(kx)y(x)=0,\) where \(k\) is a free parameter. They obtain generalised modified Newton-Cotes formulae and a generalised modified Boole's rule. These formulas are obtained by replacing the integrand by a mixed interpolation function of the form \[ F_n(x)=a U_1(ax)+b U_2(kx)+\sum_{i=0}^{n-2} C_ix^i, \] based on the equally spaced grid points \(x_j=jh\). The error analysis involved in the present quadrature rules is also examined. Several numerical examples and a detailed study involved in chosing the values of \(k\) are considered.
