A homogeneous space \(G/H\) is called plesiocompact if there exists a cocompact Lie subgroup \(P\supset H\) of \(G\) such that \(P/H\) has a finite invariant measure. Let \(M = G/H\) be a plesiocompact homogeneous space of a Lie group \(G\) with finitely many connected components and let \(K\) be a maximal compact subgroup of \(G\). The author proves that \(K\setminus M\) is an orbifold and the natural projection \(M\to K\setminus M\) is a Seifert fibre bundle (called the natural one). Moreover, if \(\widetilde K\) is a maximal semisimple compact subgroup of \(G\), then \(\widetilde K\setminus M\) is an orbifold diffeomorphic to an orbifold of the form \(K'\setminus G'/\Gamma'\), where \(\Gamma'\) is a lattice in a Lie group \(G'\) with finitely many connected components and \(K'\) a maximal compact subgroup of \(G'\). The proof also implies that if \(M\) is a plesiocompact homogeneous space of a connected Lie group, then \(\pi_1(M)\) is isomorphic to a lattice in a Lie group with finitely many connected components.
