The first part of this paper consists of a survey of Tallini's work on \(q\)-arcs and caps, where the relation of one of Tallini's results to the non-existence of a projective plane of order 10 is highlighted. The second part contains reminiscences (mostly of an art history nature) of a visit with Tallini in Perugia.
