The author associates a generalized binomial coefficient with any pair \((\lambda,\kappa)\) of finite decreasing sequences of \(n\) integers. This is made by using Macdonald's polynomials [\textit{I. G. Macdonald}, Symmetric functions and Hall polynomials (1995; Zbl 0899.05068)]. He studies the general properties of these coefficients, gives an analytic expression for the most elementary about them, and proves them to be the same than those of \textit{A. Okounkov} [Math. Research Lett. 4, 533-553 (1997)].
