It was proved by \textit{P. M. Johnson} [Arch. Math. 60, No. 5, 414-419 (1993; Zbl 0783.20016)] that if a finite soluble group \(G=AB\) is factorized by two subgroups \(A\) and \(B\), then \(O_\pi(A)\cap O_\pi(B)\) is a subgroup of \(O_\pi(G)\) for every set \(\pi\) of prime numbers. In this article the authors prove that if the finite group \(G=AB\) is the product of two subgroups \(A\) and \(B\), then \(O_\pi(A)\cap O_\pi(B)\) is contained in \(O_\pi(G)\) for every set \(\pi\) of odd prime numbers, provided that \(G\) does not involve any section of type \(\Gamma(p^m)\), where \(p\) is an odd prime and \(m\) is a positive odd integer. Here a group \(X\) is said to be of type \(\Gamma(p^m)\) if it is a subgroup of \(P\Gamma L_2(p^m)\) and contains a subgroup isomorphic to \(L_2(p^m)\) with index \(m\).
