Considering polynomial splines with parametric continuity conditions Blossoming principle was introduced by \textit{L. Ramshaw} [Comput. Aided Geom. Des. 6, No. 4, 323-358 (1989; Zbl 0705.65008)]. This has been extended through two different approaches. One of these depends on geometric properties [cf. \textit{H.-P. Seidel}, Modélisation Math. Anal. Numér. 26, No. 1, 149-176 (1992; Zbl 0752.65008)] while the other originates from the de Boor-Fix formula [\textit{C. de Boor} and \textit{G. J. Fix}, J. Approximation Theory 8, 19-45 (1973; Zbl 0279.41008)]. Extending the idea developed by \textit{M.-L. Mazure} and \textit{P. J. Laurent} [in Advanced Topics in Multivariate Approximation, World Scientific, 227-242 (1997)] for a single space the present paper merges several results in the foregoing directions and it is shown that most of such results are still valid in a more general framework.
