In a simple linearly compact infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebra, one may construct a Weisfeiler filtration and consider the associated graded Lie superalgebra \(G\). The algebra \(G\) will be \(\mathbb Z\) graded: \(G= \bigoplus_{j\geq h}G_j\), \(h<0\), \(\dim G_j<\infty\) with the irreducible strongly transitive action of \(G_0\) on \(G_{-1}\). In the paper [\textit{V. Kac}, Adv. Math. 139, 1--55 (1998; Zbl 0929.17026)] all possible ``negative parts'' \(G_{\leq 0}= \bigoplus_{0\geq j\geq h}G_j\) for such \(G\) were classified. In this paper all possible prolongations of \(G_{\leq 0}\) into \(G\) are calculated for these early found \(G_{\leq 0}\). The authors go case by case with heavy calculations, but succeed to get a full classification of all \(G\) that appear from Weisfeiler filtrations. The results are used in the above paper of Kac to derive the classification of simple infinite-dimensional Lie superalgebras. Errata text by N. Cantarini and the authors: We give here the correct description of the Lie superalgebra \(E(3,8)\) presented at the end of Section 5.3 of this paper.
