The authors study the Friedrichs extension of the minimal operator generated in \(L^2(a,b; \omega)\) by an ordinary differential expression \(\omega^{-1}M\) of order \(2n\) on an interval \([a,b)\), where \(a\), \(b\) respectively are regular and singular end-points. Under the assumption that for a fixed value of \(\lambda\), \(\widetilde\lambda\) say, there exists \(\mu> \widetilde\lambda\) and \(d<b\) such that the equation \(\omega^{-1}My= \mu y\) is disconjugate on \((d, b)\), it is proved that the Friedrichs extension can be characterized by boundary conditions defined in terms of principal solutions of \(\omega^{-1}My= \widetilde\lambda y\) at the singular end-point \(b\).
