    Let \(L^{+}(K)\) be the field of formal Laurent series in \(t\) with coefficients in the field \(K\). Suppose that \(\alpha,\beta\) are nonzero elements of \(L^{+}(K).\) Then the \((\alpha,\beta)\)-recursive matrix is defined to be the infinite matrix \(R(\alpha,\beta)\) whose rows and columns are indexed by \(\mathbb{Z}\) and whose \(i\)th row consists of the coefficients of the Laurent series \(\alpha^{i}\beta\) (\(i\in\mathbb{Z}).\) \textit{M. Barnabei, A. Brini} and \textit{G. Nicoletti} [J. Algebra 75, 546-573 (1982; Zbl 0509.05005)] have shown that if \(\gamma\) has positive degree then the matrix product \(R(\alpha,\beta)R(\gamma,\delta)\) of two recursive matrices can be defined and equals \(R(\alpha\circ\gamma ,(\beta\circ\gamma)\delta)\). The present author shows that this fact can be generalized to the case where the second arguments (\(\beta\) and \(\delta\)) are replaced by \(n\times n\) matrices over \(L^{+}(K)\); the proof is unchanged. This yields block factorizations of infinite block Toeplitz and block Hurwitz matrices.
