The author obtains estimates on the degree of approximation of functions of bounded variation, by means of some generalized Meyer-König and Zeller operators. The first results in this direction are due to \textit{R. Bojanic} by himself and \textit{M. Vuilleumier} [see J. Approximation Theory 31, 67-79 (1981; Zbl 0494.42003)] who obtained such estimates for Fourier series. Later work considered the Bernstein polynomials, the Meyer-König and Zeller power series and the Szász operators. The definitions of the generalized Meyer-König and Zeller operators and the estimates obtained are too complicated to detail in this review.
