The aim of this work is to show the growing importance of homological algebra in representation theory, through examples. The author begins with considering the category of modules over a certain factor algebra, relating it to a category of spaces over \(\mathbf M\). The category of spaces over \(\mathbf M\) is in turn related to representations of posets and matrix problems. Also he considers almost split sequences and simply connected algebras where, as he says: ``module categories are often constructed directly without the knowledge of the defining algebras''. So, the use of homological algebra permeates all the representation theory, by now.
