    Consider potentials \(V:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}\), \(V(x+\gamma)=V(x)\), \(x\in \mathbb{R}\), \(\gamma \in 2\pi Z\), with \[ \|V \|^2_{\alpha }:= \sum _{n\in Z} \|\widehat V (n)\|^2 (1+n^2)^{\alpha}<\infty,\;\alpha >0,\text{ and }\widehat V(n):= (1/2\pi)^{1/2}\int _0^{2\pi}e^{-inx}V(x) dx. \] The Stark-Wannier Hamiltonian is the selfadjoint operator \(H^{SW}:= -\frac{d^2}{dx^2} - x +V\) defined in \(L^2(\mathbb{R})\) by extension from the core \(C_0^\infty (\mathbb{R})\). The quantum dynamics generated by \(H^{SW}\) is studied. The continuous spectrum of \(H^{SW}\) is never empty, and furthermore there are no bound states for \(V\) small enough.
