In the first part the authors recall the main construction of the standard variational calculus of field theories which was used by themselves and others in previous papers to calculate mass and angular momentum for the Kerr solution of Einstein's field equations. Then they use the first law of black hole thermodynamics for determining the entropy of the Kerr solution on both horizons and argue that the entropy calculated on the inner horizon admits an interpretation as a quantity associated to a conserved charge which is related to the rotational degrees of freedom of the system.
