\textit{S.-N. Chow, J. Mallet-Paret} and \textit{J. A. Yorke} [Lect. Notes Math. 1007, 109--131 (1983; Zbl 0549.34045)] established that the sequence of local indices \(\{ I( f^{n},x_{0}) \} _{n=1}^{\infty}\) of a \(C^{1}\) map \(f\) is periodic and expressed the period in terms of eigenvalues of the derivative \(Df(x_{0})\) of \(f\) at \(x_{0}.\) For \(m\geq1,\) define \(P^{m} (f)=\text{Fix}( f^{m}) \) and \(P_{m}=P^{m}(f)\setminus \bigcup_{0<n<m}P^{n}(f).\) If \(P^{m}(f)\neq\emptyset,\) then \(m\) is called a minimal period of \(f,\) and the set of all minimal periods of \(f\) is denoted by \(\text{Per}(f).\) The author uses \(k\)-adic expansion to examine the class of simplicial maps studied earlier by \textit{H. W. Siegberg} [Topology 23, 157--160 (1984; Zbl 0534.55002)] for which, according to the result due to \textit{I. K. Babenko} and \textit{S. A. Bogatyi} [Math. USSR, Izv. 38, 1--26 (1992; Zbl 0742.58027)] the sequence \(\{ I( f^{n},x_{0}) \} _{n=1}^{\infty}\) should be periodic. The period of this map is determined, and then this information is used to establish certain properties of periodic points.
