Let \(V\) be a finite dimensional vector space over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. Let \(W:=V\oplus\cdots\oplus V\oplus V^*\oplus\cdots\oplus V^*\) (the summands \(V\) and \(V^*\) occur finitely many times). Any subgroup \(H\) of \(\text{GL}(V)\) naturally acts on \(W\). If \(H\) is one of the classical groups \(\text{GL}(V)\), \(\text{SL}(V)\), \(\text{O}(V)\) or \(\text{Sp}(V)\), a minimal system of homogeneous generators of the algebra of \(H\)-invariant polynomial functions on \(W\) is known since the 19-th century. In the present paper such a system is explicitly described if \(H\) is a maximal unipotent group of either of the classical groups \(\text{GL}(V)\), \(\text{O}(V)\), \(\text{Sp}(V)\).
