The author introduces two kinds of generalized Catalan numbers, which can be interpreted as the number of certain bounded lattice paths in a lattice point set, and he derives three explicit formulae for the polynomials \(\gamma\) studied by \textit{F. Brenti} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 55, 448-472 (1997; Zbl 0895.20029)] in terms of these numbers. The explicit formulae answer some problems posed by Brenti, including the following conjecture: Let \(n\) be a positive integer. Then \(\gamma_{2n}(1)= \gamma_{2n+1}(1)= (-1)^{n+1} C_n\), where \(C_n\) is the \(n\)th Catalan number.
