In this paper, the author extends the concept of almost summing linear operators to nonlinear functions in a different way than it was done by \textit{G. Bothelho, H.--A. Braunss} and \textit{H. Junek} [Arch. Math. 76, 109--118 (2001; Zbl 0992.46037)]. This leads him to the spaces \({\mathcal P}_{\text{sal},q}(^kE;F)\) and \({\mathcal H}_{\text{sal},q}(E;F)\) of strongly almost \(q\)-summing polynomials and holomorphic functions, and he establishes relationships with other ideals of polynomials and holomorphic functions. For instance, he obtains that \({\mathcal H}_{\text{sal},q}(E;H)={\mathcal H}(E;H)\) for \(1 \leq q \leq 2\), provided that \(H\) is a Hilbert space and \(E\) is an \({\mathcal L}_1\)- or an \({\mathcal L}_\infty\)-space.

In \textit{M. C. Matos} [``Nonlinear absolutely summing mappings between Banach spaces'', in: Quadra\-gésimo Sexto Seminário Brasileiro de Análise, 462--479 (November 1997); Math. Nachr. 258, 71--89 (2003; Zbl 1042.47041)], absolutely summing mappings were presented. In this paper, the author gives a generalization: Let \(E\) and \(F\) be Banach spaces. A mapping \(f:E \rightarrow F\) is absolutely \((p,q)\)-summing at \(a\) if there are \(M_a,\delta_a, r_a > 0\) such that \[ \sum^k_{j=1} \| f(a+x_j)-f(a)\| ^p \leq M_a \| (x_j)^k_{j=1}\| ^{r_a}_{w,q} \] for all \(k\) and \(\| (x_j)^k_{j=1}\| _{w,q} < \delta_a\), where \(\| \cdot \| _{w,q}\) denotes the norm of space of all weakly \(q\)-summing series in \(E\). In Theorem 2, it is shown that if \(F\) has cotype \(q\) and \(E\) is an \({\mathcal L}_{\infty,\lambda}\) space, then every mapping \(f\) from \(E\) into \(F\) which is analytic at \(a\) is absolutely \((q,2)\)-summing in \(a\). Moreover, the author shows that an \(n\)-linear mapping is \((p;q,\dots,q)\)-summing in the usual sense iff it is \((p;q)\)-summing at the origin in the sense of the above definition. The main part of the paper is dedicated to almost \(p\)-summing mappings. This notion generalizes the notion of almost \(p\)-summing homogeneous polynomials defined in \textit{G. Botelho} [Math. Nachr. 211, 25--36 (2000; Zbl 0960.46029)]. In this section, it is shown, among others: (a) a connection between absolutely \((p;q)\)-summing and almost \(p\)-summing mappings, (b) that every mapping \(f\) from \(E\) into \(F\) analytic at \(a\) is almost \(2\)-summing in \(a\) if \(E\) is an \(L_{\infty}\) space and \(F\) is a Hilbert space, (c) every vector-valued \(n\)-homogeneous continuous polynomial on an \(L_{\infty}\) space is almost 2-summing in the usual sense for \(n \geq 2\). This generalizes a result of \textit{G. Botelho, H.-A. Braunss} and \textit{H. Junek} [Arch. Math. 76, No. 2, 109--118 (2001; Zbl 0992.46037)]. In the last section of this paper, the author shows a theorem of Dvoretzky-Rogers type for almost \(p\)-summing polynomials and deduces the following: If dim\(E = \infty\) and \(p>1\), then there are homogeneous continuous polynomials from \(E\) into itself which are not almost \(p\)-summing at any point in the sense of this paper.
