The actuator failure compensation problem is formulated for a nonlinear plant model which is linear in constant parameters and inputs. Two adaptive state feedback control schemes based on two structure conditions are presented which ensure asymptotic output tracking and closed-loop signal boundedness. The nonlinear longitudinal dynamic model of a twin otter aircraft is studied and an adaptive control scheme is applied to this model for output tracking in the presence of unknown parameters and actuator failures. The simulation results are presented.
