The goal of this paper is to present the geometry associated to quadratic systems of conservation laws with umbilic points, essentially for \(2\times 2\) models. The authors prove that, for generic conservation laws, the blow-up leads to a smooth manifold, and they develop the connections of its relevant submanifolds with the critical set of projections. The authors show that the implicit equation associated to the rarefaction foliation for generic \((2\times 2)\) conservation law is generic among binary equations. The authors consider the shock as well as composite curves.
