Boundary problems for a class of degenerate hyperbolic equations (Q760846)

The author considers the equation \(xu_{xx}-yu_{yy}+(\alpha -m)u_ x- (\beta -n)u_ y=0\), provided \(0<\alpha\), \(\beta <1\), m, n integers, in the domain Q bounded by \(\bar I_ 1\cup \bar I_ 2\cup \bar I_ 3\), where \(I_ 1: 0<x<1,y=0,\) \(I_ 2: 0<y<1,x=0,\) \(I_ 3: \sqrt{x}+\sqrt{y}=1,\) \(0<x<1\), \(y>0\). The existence and uniqueness of solutions of two boundary value problems are discussed.
