In this paper whose results were partly presented by the first and third author in a foregoing work [Busefal 14, 47-56 (1983; Zbl 0526.04003)] the authors characterize all the solutions of a composite fuzzy relation equation having the greatest energy measure and the smallest entropy measure. For related results see other papers of the same authors [ibid. 10, 44-53 (1982; Zbl 0525.04002); Fuzzy Sets Syst. 9, 275-285 (1983; Zbl 0514.94027); Busefal 11, 14-23 (1982; Zbl 0516.94034)]. Moreover, the paper shows how some identification and control problems in fuzzy systems can be illustrated by means of a max-min multidimensional equation of type \(B=A_ 1\circ A_ 2\circ...\circ A_ ke\circ R\), where \(A_ i\), \(i=1,...,k\), are fuzzy inputs, B is a fuzzy output and R is a fuzzy relation describing the system. Further details can be found in the papers of the second author [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 11, 1-18 (1983; Zbl 0517.93001); Int. J. Gen. Syst. 9, 125-132 (1983; Zbl 0521.93005].
