The author presents formulas for the interpolation of a periodic function f by a trigonometric polynomial in the case of an even number of (arbitrary or equidistant) interpolating points, completing results of \textit{H. E. Salzer} [J. Math. Phys. 27, 274-278 (1949; Zbl 0032.080)] and \textit{P. Henrici} [Numer. Math. 33, 225-234 (1979; Zbl 0442.65129)]. In Part II he considers the stability of the formulas near an interpolating point, where all are stable, and dependence on the number of interpolating points, where they become instable except in a special case. The formulas can be used to calculate Fourier coefficients efficiently and to approximate the 'inverse' of a periodic function. An example from numerical conformal mapping is given.
