The paper presents necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of an optimum, lumped, lossless, reciprocical equalizer which matches n given non-Foster positive real impedances and realizes the prescribed transducer power-gain characteristics. these results extend the double matching problem to the n-port case. The formulation of the realizability conditions can be simplified if the given impedances are divided into three mutually exclusive groups. In this paper, it is established that: the transducer power-gain functions are not all independent; once the desired scattering matrix is constructed, the augmentation admittance matrix and the open-circuit impedance matrix are obtained and the realization of the equalizer is possible. Section 5 of this paper studies the equalizer realizability conditions, and gives a theorem for the existence of the n-port equalizer. The proof of sufficiency of the theorem is studied in Appendix A. The design procedures for solving a four-port matching problem is illustrated step by step.
