This paper deals with the regularity of the minima of the integral functional \(I: H^{l,m}(\Omega,{\mathbb{R}}^ N)\to {\mathbb{R}}\) defined by \[ I(u)=\int_{\Omega}F(x,u(x),Du(x))dx, \] where \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb{R}}^ n\) is a domain and n, m, N are integers with \(n\geq 3\), \(m\geq 2\). In more details the authors prove that, under suitable assumptions on the integrand F, every minimum u of the functional I has Hölder continuous first order partial derivatives on an open subset \(\Omega_ 0\) with \(meas(\Omega -\Omega_ 0)=0\). Moreover, they represent the singularity set \(\Omega -\Omega_ 0.\) This result extends those already proved by the first author and \textit{E. Giusti} [Invent. Math. 72, 285-298 (1983; Zbl 0513.49003)] and the second author [Partial regularity of vector valued functions minimizing variational integrals, preprint (1982)].
