This paper deals with relations between Hodge numbers of surfaces \(S,S'\subseteq {\mathbb{P}}^ 4({\mathbb{C}})\) which are \textit{nicely linked}, i.e. such that there are hypersurfaces F and G with \(G\cap F=S\cup S'\), \(S\cap S'=C\) is a smooth curve and G is smooth away from C with at most a finite number of ordinary double points on C. The idea is that, given S, one can find S' which is simpler to deal with. The article contains numerous interesting examples.
