Shape-preserving interpolation with tension controls is studied. In the one-variable setting, a weighted least-squares minimization model is used with weights controlling the shapes of the curve. By forcing a spline model, the resulting model is a constrained quadratic programming problem. An algorithm is given and several interesting examples are presented.
