The diagram D(\(\pi)\) of a plane partition \(\pi\) with \(a_{ij}\) in the ith row and jth column is defined by \(D(\pi)=\{(i,j,k)\in N^ 3:a_{ij}\) is defined and \(1\leq k\leq a_{ij}\}\). If H is a subgroup of \(S_ 3\) acting on \(N^ 3\) by permuting coordinates, and if \(\pi\) is H- invariant (i.e. D(\(\pi)\) is H-stable), let \(w_ H(\pi)\) denote the number of H-orbits in D(\(\pi)\). The main results of this paper are generating functions for \(Q(A_ 3)\), \(P(S_ 3)\) and \(Q(S_ 3)\), where \(P(H)=\sum q^{| D(\pi)|},\) \(Q(H)=\sum q^{w_ H(\pi)},\) both sums being over all H-invariant \(\pi\), \(D(\pi)\subset [n]^ 3\). The formula for \(Q(S_ 3)\) conjectured by Andrews and Robbins is shown to reduce to an identity involving the determinant of a particular matrix.
