Approximation results for spectral methods are given. Two different cases are treated: (1) when the polynomials are of different degrees with respect to the different variables; (2) when a domain decomposition technique is used and the polynomials are of different degrees on each subdomain. In (2) several kinds of matching conditions on the interfaces are analyzed. The results are presented in weighted Sobolev spaces with corresponding norms.
